Dyari (Iy: ‘Delvers’) Elves

The Dyari are a mysterious part of elven culture, rarely talked about by their distant cousins. Having rejected the ways of mortal races, the Dyari believe that all other races are inferior. Their open hostility has made them enemies of most mortal races and hated by their more aloof Elvish cousins. It is rumoured that they have withdrawn from contact with all others, living deep within the planet, where they worship dark gods and powers.

Dúranaki

A reclusive, technically and socially advanced but xenophobic culture in Tanara (SE Jaiman). Little contact with them has occurred over the past few decades and many rumours conflict on their

Physical Characteristics, outlook and culture.

Erlini (Ir. ‘growers’ or ‘gardeners’) Elves

The Erlini, also known as wood elves, are the most common type of elf on the continent of Emer. The Erlini prefer to live close to nature in its unaltered state. When they employ tools and structures these are always subtle and clever of design, simple yet practical. Erlini can be found in almost every town of Emer there are concentrations of Erlini on the Islands of the Komaren Cluster and Námar-Tol.

Less lordly than the Iylari (q.v.), the Erlini Elves are nevertheless graceful beings who have a deep harmony with the earth and all natural growing things. Immortal, they never age and maintain a carefree attitude throughout their lives

Colouring: Fair skin and sandy or dark blond hair. They have light blue, green, or grey eyes.

Fauns
Faun

The colony of Fauns of the Emerald Forest are guests of the Forest People and they repay their hospitality by guarding the forest perimeter and helping to protect the wood. They prefer to run naked, though some will clothe themselves in kilts when travelling outside the forest. Since all fauns are male, they propagate by the occasional forays to the Shay fishing villages or to the Amazon City of Sarnak.

Colouring: Fair skin and chestnut brown hair. They have light brown or hazel eyes.
Endurance: Average but movement rate is twice normal.

Hirazi
Hirazi

Warfare drove the original Hirazi across southern Emer in search of a refuge in Peligris. In the centuries since the great migration, the Hirazi have never left the mountainous peaks. Hirazi live in remote mountainous crags at high altitudes and they spend most of their lives gliding with the winds. Other clans of Hirazi have settled in lofty aeries elsewhere in Emer and some can be found in Sel-Kai and Eidolon.

Build: Large and muscular. Men average 110 pounds. Women average 100 pounds.
Colouring: Golden brown skin and white or blond hair. They have light blue to light green eyes.
Endurance: Average.

Special Abilities: Flight up to 30 mph for short distances.

Iylari (Ir. “beautiful- ”) Elves

A race of immortal beings resembling mannish peoples, but generally more graceful and beautiful. They are one with the earth, and many possess Essænce powers of one type or another. Their exact origins are unknown, although it is generally accepted that they predate most mannish cultures yet antedate the Althans. There are actually four sub-groups of Iylari Elves, the Linæri, the Loari, Shuluri and the Dyari.

Iylari are able to substitute 2 hours of meditation each day in place of mortal sleep.

Jaader
Jaader

This people are believed to actually be native to Emer, unlike most of the other races now found here. Robust and often powerfully built, the Jaaderi are a race to stand with the Laan in physical nobility. The Jaaderi are an ancient people who make their homes in the plains of Tai Emer, which they control much of that region.

Jaader are commonly found in rural areas of the land.

Build: Robust and powerful. Men average 200 pounds. Women average 190 pounds.
Colouring: Reddish brown skin and straight black hair. They have green, brown or hazel eyes.
Endurance: Average.

Jineri
Jineri

Though similar to the Y’nari in many ways, they are generally taller and more slender with darker skin. Some of the Jineri also display elven racial features such as arching eyebrows and slightly pointed ears. They have little body hair, and scalp hair is always thick and straight. The Jineri can be found on the Islands of Thesmoq, Barellis and the Komaren Cluster.

Colouring: Pail yellowish skin and black hair with silver or white streaks. They have brown or hazel eyes.

Kinsai

The Kinsai are believed to be the descendants of the interbreeding between the Laan and the now extinct Jinteni. The Kinsai people can be found in two locations in Emer, the island Realm of Itanis and the grasslands of Ahnasan. The Itanians are rumored to be dying out in addition to being powerful Mentalists while the Kinsai tribes of Ahnasan, ride six-legged panthers known as kith and hunt herds of antelope.

Colouring: Light brown skin and black curly hair. They have light green eyes.

Laan
Laan

The Laan are even taller than the Elves, but more heavily boned and physically stronger. The Laan are typically great warriors, leaders and empire builders, making their ambitions match their great stature. They are concentrated in Emer in realms of Danarchis, Reandor, and Sarnak and in the cities of Kaitaine and Sel-kai.

Colouring: Fair skin and brown to coal black hair. They have blue, grey or hazel eyes.
Endurance: Considerable.

Linæri Elves
Linaeri elves

The Linæri are a very musical elven culture and even the least talented of them can play the harp or sing, while the most talented compose music or delight the ear with the expertise on several musical instruments. While technically advanced, these elves prefer a relatively simple life and use their powerful magic’s to dissuade would-be invaders from their island realm of Lys.

Colouring: Fair skin and golden blond hair. They have blue eyes.

Loari Elves
Loari elves

While the Loari may love nature as much as his Linæri cousin, they seek to unlock its hidden secrets rather than enjoy it in its untouched state. Among the contemporary peoples, they are unmatched in science, architecture, and technology. The Loari egos are also unsurpassed among the elven kind and the other mannish races. Most all of the Loari elves reside in the island republic of Námar-Tol.

Colouring: Fair or pale skin and raven black hair. They have brown, grey-blue or hazel eyes.

Lifespan: Immortal.

Lugrôki

Lugrôki are animal-like beings with grotesque faces, slanting eyes, flattened snouts full of sharpened tusks further deforming their heavily built, muscled body with long arms and thick swarthy hide. There are two base casts – Lesser and Greater Lugrôki.

All Lugrôki are affected by sunlight, to varying degrees. Their behaviour is often violent and there are no known treaties between the Lugrôki races and any of the mortal or immortal races that rule lands today.

Nomari
Nomari dwarves

The Nomari, also known as dwarves, are a fearless people, comfortable below ground where they fashion complex mines and palatial dwellings. Dwarves are masters of metal-craft and they design their works to exhibit beauty as well as strength and utility. A secretive people, Dwarves of Ton Bor, tend to keep to themselves in their subterranean domain.

Colouring: Pale to ruddy skin and brown or black hair. They have brown eyes.
Endurance: Considerable.
Height: Men 4’2" to 5’0"(d10). Women 4’0" to 4’10"(d10).
Lifespan: 250 years.
Resistance: Resistant to disease.
Special Abilities: Natural night vision.
Profession Limitations: No Essence or Mentalism spell users.

Rhiani
Rhiani

Favouring a culture that is nomadic, fierce, and strong willed, the Rhiani make their home in the desert regions of Uj and are superlative horsemen. Rhiani have fine features and a unique trait: they possess two eyelids. The regular outer eyelid is like that of other races, but they possess another thin membrane, which shields the eye when in bright sunlight.

Colouring: Light brown skin and blond to dark brown hair. They have pale blue and violet eyes.
Endurance: Tremendous.

Resistance: Resistant to natural heat.
Special Abilities: Possess a inner eyelid to protect against sand and dust.

Shuluri (Iy: ‘Swimmers’) Elves

Aquatic Elves are a rare and elusive breed having powerful lungs which can extract oxygen from air or water, enabling them to exist equally well on land or under the sea. Physically they resemble the Iylari (especially the Loari), but are very pale, with blond or white hair.

Build: Somewhat stronger than their Loari cousins, they resemble them in many other ways. Tall and naturally slender. Men average 170 pounds. Women average 155 pounds.
Colouring: Fair or pale skin and raven black hair. They have brown, grey-blue or hazel eyes.
Endurance: They are capable of travelling 16 to 20 hours a day. Need only 2 hours of rest (focused meditation) a night.
Height: Men 6’0" to 6’10"(d10). Women 5’10" to 6’8"(d10).
Lifespan: Immortal.
Resistance: Resistant to bacterial, fungal, viral diseases or infections and to extremes of temperature.

Shay

The Shay are the most common mannish group on the continent of Emer. The Shay peoples are shorter than most other races but stout and tough. Shay can be found in Præten, Reandor, Sarnak, Stroane, Vornia and the city of Sel-Kai. There are also concentrations of Shay on the Islands of the Komaren Cluster, Shinh Archipelago, and Vog Mur.

Colouring: Fair skin and brown hair. They have blue, hazel or brown eyes.

Talath
Talath

The Talath are a robust race that migrated from Jaiman into the northwestern area of Emer known as Bodlea. The Talath are well suited to cooler regions and are born to a life of hard work, which makes them have an amazing size and strength. Both sexes of the Talath are also big-boned and are ferocious fighters when defending their homesteads.

Build: Heavily boned and physically strong. Men average 215 pounds. Women average 200 pounds.
Colouring: Fair skin and blond hair. They have blue eyes.
Endurance: Normal.
Height: Men 6’0" to 7’0"(d12). Women 5’10" to 6’10"(d12).

Resistance: Resistant to natural cold.
Special Abilities: None.
Profession Limitations: None but Essence and Mentalism users would be rare.

Talairi (Ir. “part- ”) Elves

The Talair resemble the mortal race of man, even though they share parentage with the Iylari (elves). Rarely seen in modern times, given the Iylari’s abhorrence of such joinings, the Talair are shunned by both societies and therefore often travel, hiding their parentage. The two most common settlements for them are the Ky’taari of Mur Fostisyr and the Sulini of Tanara.

Build: Heights vary tremendously, depending on racial mix.
Colouring: Varies- from mortal like to elvish features.
Endurance: Normal.
Height: Men 5’0" to 6’11"(2d12). Women 4’10" to 6’9"(2d12).
Lifespan: varies but can be anywhere from 100 years to centuries.
Resistance: Ky’taar are resistant to natural cold. Both Ky’are very resistant to temperature extremes
Special Abilities: None.

Vorloi
Vorloi

The Vorloi, a very diminutive and nimble race, are apparently unique to the Isle of the Jade Forest. They also possess pointed ears and have an increased longevity but most think that is result of mating between an elven and mannish group long ago. But the elven grace of this people may be a front because behind their beautiful lips are sharp fangs and their long delicate fingers end in hard, sharp nails.

Build: Small and agile. Men average 100 pounds. Women average 90 pounds.
Colouring: Light brown skin and dark brown to blach hair. They have green or hazel eyes.
Endurance: Average.
Height: Men 4’10" to 5’6"(d8). Women 4’8" to 5’4"(d8).

Resistance: Resistant to natural extremes of temperature.
Special Abilities: None.
Profession Limitations: None, but many are Animists.

Y’nari

For two hundred generations, a Y’nari people have dominated the southern steppe of Tai-Emer. They are an immigrant people, native to Kelestia far to the northeast. Generally quiet and peaceful, the Ten Clans of Nuyan Khôm are known for a vertical fold of skin from the upper eyelid that covers the inner corner of the eye (Asian single eyelid).
